Why Heat Guns Are Essential for Flat Roofing

Heat guns for flat roofing are key for working with roofing membranes, including single-ply systems. A high-performance heat gun helps roofers bond synthetic materials like PVC and EPDM quickly, ensuring a watertight seal that is crucial for flat roofs. Our range of heat guns offers advanced features such as precise temperature control and specialised nozzle attachments, so you can ensure consistency and accuracy in your work, whether thats sealing seams, repairing damaged sections, or applying heat-sensitive adhesives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Always wear heat-resistant gloves and safety glasses when using a heat gun. Keep the heat gun away from flammable materials and use it in well-ventilated areas. Always read the manufacturer's instructions before use and follow them carefully.

The lifespan of your heat gun depends a lot on the model and how often you use it. The average lifespan is between 2-5 years or around 400 hours with proper maintenance.

The temperature you use will depend on the task you are performing. For example, you should use a low temperature for paint removal, or a high temperature for soldering or welding. Always consult the manufacturer's instructions or consult an expert for guidance.

Before you remove paint with a heat gun, you need to make sure the area is well-ventilated and that there is nothing flammable nearby. You must also always wear heat-resistant gloves and safety glasses, regardless of the heat you have set it to.

Start by setting the heat gun to a lower temperature (30-130C). Once at the temperature, hold it 6 inches away from the paint until the paint starts to soften. Once softened, remove it from the surface using a paint scraper. Repeat this until all of the paint is removed.

It’s important to note that anything higher than 130C can result in harmful fumes being released.
