Mineral Wool vs PIR
The majority of insulation is made from one of three materials – mineral wool, fibreglass, or PIR. In this blog, we’re going to compare mineral wool and PIR insulation, breaking down the clear differences between the two.
Generally speaking, mineral wool is made from volcanic rock and is considered the best insulation material for fire resistance, moisture resistance, and soundproofing. Whereas PIR is seen as one of the most thermally efficient insulation materials, combining some of the lowest R-values with an incredibly thin profile ideal for tight spaces.
As both materials serve their own purpose, we’re going to compare them for the reasons you might be looking to insulate.
