Description

Our Premium ClassicBond One Piece EPDM Rubber Membrane Is 30% thicker than standard EPDM, which makes it the ideal choice for almost all roofing projects, especially commercial roofs. The added thickness helps provide better tear resistance and extra durability. It is also more forgiving on uneven surfaces.

Note: Remember to add at least 150mm to each edge of your actual roof size.

ClassicBond is the original EPDM roofing system with a proven track record of over 50 years of service life. Recognised as one of the most reliable, durable and sustainable materials for your flat roof. ClassicBond is manufactured by Carlisle-Syntec, which pioneered EPDM Roofing systems in the 1960s

BBA Certified & preferred by roofing professionals, ClassicBond is tangibly more pliable, slate grey in colour and is the ideal EPDM rubber membrane for both large and small flat roofs.

ClassicBond EPDM membrane is made from large pre-joined sheets starting at 0.5m in width up to a max sheet size of 30.5 metres in length by 15.25 metres in width.

This means no on-site joining is required as long as the roof does not exceed these measurements, making the ClassicBond EPDM the best for quick and easy installation.

ClassicBond is available in three thicknesses:

  • 1.2mm (standard)
  • 1.52mm (commercial)
  • 2.54mm (ClassicBond PRO)

Why Choose ClassicBond?

The ClassicBond roof system is designed to be cost-effective and much faster than traditional roofing systems. For most applications, the membrane is cut to the size of your roof and supplied as one single piece, trimmed to size and finished off with the correct drip, kerb edge and wall up-stand trims.

As EPDM is not affected by extremes of temperature, the membrane will not crack, peel or split and is covered by our 20-year manufacturer's membrane guarantee.

The rubber roof membrane is sold by the running metre cut from large sheets measuring: 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m, 3.0m, etc., right up to 9.15m in width by 30.5 metres in length. So that's no joins required if the roof is no bigger than 9.15metres x 30.5 metres.

Questions & Answers

ClassicBond vs Skyguard

Both of these are made from EPDM rubber, ClassicBond is 1.2mm & 1.5mm thick whereas SkyGuard is 1.0mm thick. This means the SkyGuard is for use on outbuildings, sheds and any other building not covered by building regs as this requires an EPDM that is 1.14mm thick as a minimum. ClassicBond can be used on all roof types.

ClassicBond vs Firestone

There isn’t much difference between the systems ClassicBond or Firestone now known as Elevate, both are EPDM membranes that come in similar thickness and are installed in a very similar way. They both have BBA certificates and life spans of 50 years. So there isn’t much between them, we here at UKFR prefer the ClassicBond system as it is slightly thicker than the Elevate for the standard system and as an overall system is slightly more affordable.

What is the guarantee on ClassicBond?

ClassicBond EPDM holds a 35 year BBA certificate and a life expectancy of 50 years. If you want to get a materials guarantee we also offer training with our partner company that once trained and qualified each roof can get a 20 year materials guarantee. You would also be on our list of approved installers and if any customer needs any work in your area we pass these leads to you.

How to install classic bond EPDM

ClassicBond is simple to install, it can be installed onto a variety of surfaces and detail sections. Please see our video here on how to install onto a timber deck.
