Metal wall flashing trims are the solution for creating a waterproof junction between the wall and the roof to prevent water from entering and causing subsequent damage. Apply a bead of ClassicBond black mastic sealant over the top of the wall trim to create a strong, flexible and waterproof seal.
When used as a wall up-stand trim, the membrane is pressed into the wall or up-stand using the wall trim.
They can also be used as a Gutter Drip Trim when installing Metal Edge Trims, which can be fixed on either the top or sides.
If this wall flashing is too big for your job, try our 25mm x 50mm metal wall trim which is 40mm shorter. Additionally, if you’re undergoing a full project, don’t miss our range of Classic Bond accessories.
Please note: This will require the use of an Angle Grinder to create channels in brickwork or render.
If you don't have an angle grinder, use our 3-metre termination bars instead of the wall trim to create a watertight seal on all up-stands.
How to apply Metal Wall Trim for an EPDM Roof:
The sealant is inserted along the top of the Wall Trim into the pre-ground slot in the wall or up-stand. Watch our simple video guide for easy instructions on installation. If you cannot access the video, follow the instructions below as detailed in the video:
- Chase out a slot in the wall using a mortar chisel or angle grinder. This should be a minimum of 150 millimetres from the roof deck
- Fit the rubber membrane on the roof surface area and trim the excess membrane using a sharp knife following the chase out in the wall
- Cut the rubber membrane vertically or at an angle away from the corner using a sharp knife
- Cut elastoform tape to size. This should be a minimum of 150 millimetres wide and extend from the chaise out onto the deck and along the roof a minimum of 75 millimetres/3 inches
- Apply rubber primer and allow to dry
- Install elastoform tape starting at the top of the wall
- Mould elastoform tape into position by stretching the tape where necessary, and keep the tape in a warm place prior to use to help with mobility
- Apply pressure to a lustre form tape using a silicon seam roller and penny roller Install wall trim into the slot (additional wall trims should be overlapped by a minimum of 75 millimetres/three inches)
- Drill wall trim and wall with a seven-millimetre masonry drill
- Insert a raw plug into hole
- Screw in the perimeter fastener using hex bits and drill
- Apply ClassicBond black mastic to wall trim
